Privacy notice
What we do with the details you send us, in plain English.
The short version: if you send us a message, we use your name and email to reply to you. We don't sell it, we don't add you to a mailing list, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are
Burford Hockey Club is a volunteer-run amateur sports club based in Burford, Oxfordshire. For data protection purposes we are the data controller for information collected through this website. You can reach us at hello@burfordhc.co.uk.
What we collect
Only what you type into the enquiry form on our home page:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Which session you're interested in
- Anything you write in the message box
We don't run analytics on this site, we don't use tracking cookies, and we don't build a profile of you.
Why we collect it
To reply to your enquiry and, if you decide to come along, to let you know practical things like where to park and whether a session is on. That's it. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest — you contacted us and would reasonably expect a reply.
Who else sees it
Our enquiry form is handled by Formspree, which passes your message to the club's email inbox. Your message is stored in that inbox. We don't share it with anyone else, and we never pass it to third parties for marketing.
If you go on to join the club, your membership details are held separately in England Hockey's GMS membership system, which has its own privacy notice.
How long we keep it
If you enquire and don't join, we delete your message within twelve months. If you join, we keep your details for as long as you're a member and for one season afterwards, in case you come back.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@burfordhc.co.uk and we'll sort it out — there's no form to fill in.
If you think we've handled your information badly and we haven't put it right, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Photographs
We sometimes take photos at sessions and matches for the website and social media. If you'd rather not appear in them, tell any committee member — it's no trouble and we won't ask why.
